Crystal Palace Park Bat Walk

January 1, 1970 @ 12:00 am

Join us on this walk to explore the 7 different types of bats who call Crystal Palace Park home!

Led by Tommy, a member of London Bat Group, this walk will give an introduction to the ecology of bats in Crystal Palace Park, and we will uncover some of the stories told about them in fantasy and fiction and learn more about their place in culture and our local ecology. We will explore an area of the park using bat detectors and we will listen to the bat’s echolocation calls to identify the species we can find. We may also hear owls and see foxes on this walk, as they all call Crystal Palace Park home.

As part of this event, we will set up an acoustic survey, which will record all the bat sounds overnight. This survey will be analysed by Project Nightwatch and we will share any feedback from the report with attendees of this event.
