Penge SE20 BID

Penge SE20 BID

Penge SE20 BID is the business improvement district for Penge.

Having signed the agreement with the local authority in August 2018 the volunteer Board have been working hard to deliver the main objectives identified by the businesses who voted to have the BID in place.  Safety was one of the priorities identified by the business community and the following initiatives have or are being developed.

The BID has developed and supported a Shop Safe radio scheme. Those businesses that have a radio are able to call on the central CCTV room for support as well as alert other scheme members and call for help if needed.  It has proved itself on numerous occasions. The BID subsidises 2/3 of the cost.

More recently we have initiated the purchase and training of two defibrillators in the town so that immediate assistance can be brought to those who are taken ill with heart problems and potentially save a life.  These will be situated in McDonalds and on the flank wall of Central Parade, next to Sainsbury.

10 Bleed kits have recently been jointly purchased with Kirvan Solicitors.  These are also for emergency first aid and are potentially lifesaving pieces of equipment.

Penge SE20 BID is also looking at the installation of an additional CCTV camera and this initiative is being supported by Councillor Kathy Bance.

And finally, we are hoping to roll out a street ambassador scheme early in the new year, which will provide help and assistance in the  Town Centre and act as additional eyes and ears to enhance town centre safety. For more info contact Zoe on  manager@pengebid.co.uk
